Caramel is a modern success story, created in 1999 by Eva Karayiannis, a former lawyer with a strong vision and immense passion who originally started out by creating unparalleled childrenswear from her kitchen table in West London. At its core, is a label which focuses on understated luxury, designing only the finest quality materials. Each season Caramel strives to design modern classics, creating an original aesthetic unique to the brand.
Says Eva Karayiannis: “I wanted to create a womenswear label for stylish, urban modern women who are looking for effortless, understated clothes which chime with the idea of affordable luxury. Our customer likes to be fashionable without slavishly following trends or compromising on quality and appreciates clothes with a point of difference and predilection for details which reference our signature off-colour palette and print archive.”
“I don’t like the ethics of cheap, throw away fashion and felt there was a gap between the high street and expensive, high end –fashion. No one needs hundreds of clothes, in their wardrobe yet I felt that many women were looking for easy –to-wear pieces that could be styled up or down, that fit different body shapes and which will appeal to all ages.
Eva Karayiannis has allowed women to stamp their own indelible mark on clothes which look every bit as modern as they feel considered, uncomplicated and luxurious.Today Caramel is sold in 10 stores in 5 countries and is also stocked in 100 independent retailers world wide. It’s most recent store openings include a second store in Moscow and one in Kuwait. Read less
