An effortless, offbeat sophistication has become synonymous with Caramel’s womenswear.
An abundance of home grown craftsmanship, bold print and an individual use of layered colours and textures make up the essence of Caramel. It was originally conceived to challenge traditional, limited perceptions of childrenswear and a strong, distinctive aesthetic of fresh silhouettes which balance the classic and contemporary quickly emerged and continues to thrive each season.
Today the brand has evolved to include a womenswear and homewares collection. There are 10 stores in 6 countries and Caramel is also sold in more than 100 independent retailers. Recent openings include a second store in Moscow and Kuwait.
Says Eva Karayiannis, “From the outset, I wanted to find a modern, distinctive style, which could be individual—yet at the same time luxurious and understated.
“I don’t like the ethics of cheap, throw away fashion and felt there was a gap between the high street and expensive, high end –fashion. No one needs hundreds of clothes, in their wardrobe yet I felt that many women were looking for easy –to-wear pieces that could be styled up or down, that fit different body shapes and which will appeal to all ages.”
As always, Eva Karayiannis, the label’s founder looks to easy separates which skim rather than hug the body creating clothes which work all day, through the cocktail hour and out to dinner. Read less
