Driven by intuition, creativity and passion, Caramel strives each season to design modern classics, creating an original aesthetic unique to the brand. Asides from its own stores, Caramel is a brand which is also sold through more than 100 independent retailers and in 10 stores worldwide.It was created by Eva Karayiannis, a former lawyer in 1999, a designer with a strong vision and immense passion. The label was originally conceived to challenge traditional, limited perceptions of childrenswear.
Says Eva Karayiannis, “ It seemed to me children either had to wear mass-produced clothes, or expensive glitzy items which were often impractical or anachronistic or both—none of which is what childhood is really about. From the outset, I wanted to find a modern, distinctive style, which could be individual—yet at the same time luxurious and understated. That, it seems to me, is the essence of caramel. Why shouldn’t children’s clothes be beautiful and tough-wearing at the same time? Why shouldn’t they be luxurious, but also with a refined simplicity?”
Recent openings include a second store in Moscow and Kuwait. After many years of interest and requests from customers and press, Caramel recently launched a critically acclaimed womenswear collection and a homewares collection. Read less
