Letter to Santa

The history behind writing letters to Santa is about as mystical as Santa Claus himself. Little can be gleaned although according to recent delving, a letter was found in the 1200s with reference to the real St. Nicholas in which a little girl asks for gifts.

It wasn’t until the late 1800s, however, that this became common practice for boys and girls. Traditionally, little boys and girls wrote to Santa Claus each autumn telling him how well they had behaved throughout the year and why they deserved to receive the gifts detailed in their letter.
