There’s a strong creative process which takes place in the Caramel atelier on London’s King’s Road. Collections often evolve from a print design or perhaps a pattern on knitwear. It’s a rich collection which includes a lot of textures or an idiosyncratic colour palette.
This design ethos extends from homeware to childrenswear and womenswear.
Caramel was founded by Eva Karayiannis, a former lawyer in 1999. It was originally conceived to challenge the limited perceptions of traditional childrenswear. Soon Caramel became the
go-to label for style aficionados who were looking for clothes that were not stiff or saccharine and offered instead a modern, stylish alternative. It was at the vanguard of a wave of childrenswear labels that soon followed suit.
Today Caramel’s archetypal childrenswear with a predilection for bold, confident prints and distinctive colourways is found all over the world in Caramel’s stores in fashion capitals which include New York and Tokyo as well as online.
