Caramel was created by Eva Karayiannis, a former lawyer in 1999, a designer with a strong vision and immense passion. The label was originally conceived to challenge traditional, limited perceptions of childrenswear. Says Eva Karayiannis, “From the outset, I wanted to find a modern, distinctive style, which could be individual—yet at the same time luxurious and understated. That, it seems to me, is the essence of Caramel. That’s why we often reference the charm of vintage pieces, bringing them right up to date in the development stages of our collections. We aim to push the boundaries of the colour palette you are supposed to use for children, creating a playful rhythm of layered colours and textures.”
Asides from its own stores, Caramel is a brand which is also sold through 100 independent retailers. Recent openings include a second store in Moscow and Kuwait. The burgeoning label now also includes a recently launched and well received womenswear range and a homewares collection.
