The Linen Collection
Launched in 1999, Caramel was originally conceived by its founder, Eva Karayiannis to challenge the staid and limited perception of childrenswear. As a child, Eva had always been drawn to creating children’s clothes. “I loved their proportions and their details. I would dress my dollies or be designing for them on paper. I was dressing them until I was twelve and then I was designing for myself. I would also then sit in on the fittings that my mother had as many of her clothes were made to measure.”
From the outset, she was determined to push the boundaries. And so Eva created childrenswear that was neither stiff or saccharine and instead offered, a stylish, modern alternative. This design template was at the vanguard of a wave of childrenswear labels that followed suit.
Nearly twenty years after she Eva opened her first store, Caramel is found in over 100 independent retailers globally and in 10 stores world wide including New York and Tokyo.
In 2016, Eva introduced childrenswear and womenswear to the brand. Says Eva: “I felt there was a gap between the high street and expensive, high-end fashion. No one needs hundreds of clothes in their wardrobe- and yet I felt that many women were looking for easy to wear pieces that could be styled up or down, that fit different body shapes and which would appeal to all ages.”
