This week, we meet Alex Eagle, founder of the eponymous Soho emporium as well as creative director of The Store x Berlin and Soho Farmhouse who discusses how to create the wow factor and defines the ‘new sexy’.
How to make to make an impact without resorting to bling?
I think a great non blow-dry blow dry makes you feel good. As does getting your nails done with a navy nail colour. I love dewy skin to give you a real glow and then finished off with a slick of red and some statement earrings. That makes you feel the right side of glamorous.
What is your festive go-to outfit?
I love to wear high-waisted black trousers with a tux jacket and a white silk top. I love this look so much that I ended up having them made for the stores. It’s the one time of year when I might wear more jewellery. I think it’s about looking pared back, in a relaxed and effortless way. That chimes with much of Caramel womenswear. I love the gold leaves jacquard skirt which can be worn with a chunky bit of knitwear and a pair of brogues for an insouciant look.
What to avoid?
Anything too trend led! If you are going somewhere, do you really want to see others in the same thing?
What are rules of the new sexy ?
I think the key thing is that French maxim of feeling ‘bien dans sa peau, ‘ with a focus on fabric and fit and looking effortlessly smart but not over accessorised or as if you have spent hours in front of the mirror. It’s about having the right building blocks. I think less is nearly always more.
What are the erogenous zones to flash?
Your neck, a bare ankle or arms, beautiful skin
Heels versus flats?
I’m a fan of a Venetian slipper which are very elegant and show off your ankles.Something from New & Lingwood or Le Monde Beryl.
