Caramel Woman AW17
A swatch of 1940s Prince of wales check found in a brocante market was the starting point for clothes which reference Autumn Winter’s 2017’s mood of mannish sophistication.
“It’s for a woman who has a masculine outlook on life,” explains founder and creative director, Eva Karayiannis, “but if you un-belt her coat, she is wearing something very feminine – like layers of tulle beneath.”
Influenced by Japanese dressing gown coating, this season’s collection juxtaposes stricter tailoring with less structured silhouettes. Once again Eva Karayiannis looks to easy separates which tap into our predilection for 24/7 dressing with staples which include high waist front pleat trousers cut narrowly at the ankle that recall the early 90s or double-faced midi skirts in orange silk jacquards. Sharper outlines provide an antidote to the fluidity of geometric tops and knitwear designed to ward off a wintery chill.
