cocomaya

March 16th, 2012 — 6:42am

Oh my. If that doesn’t get your mouth watering, we don’t know what will. And with that, we are happy to reveal that our final collaborator in our nearly-upon-us Mother’s Day weekend, is the wonderful Cocomaya!

Dive into our Pavilion Road store on Saturday 17th or book a slot at the Mother’s Day photography session on Sunday 18th, and feast on the delicious treats that Cocomaya will be providing for us. We predict you might fall so deep-in-love with their exquisite chocolates and authentic artisan baking, that you’ll not be able to resist a trip to their Pavilion Road store (opposite Caramel) straight after – we highly recommend their renowned afternoon tea!

Furthermore, if you spend £50 or more at Caramel Pavilion Road this weekend, you may be the lucky one that gets to take home the cake that Cocomaya has baked especially for us! We’ll try to hide our jealousy.

karin söderquist

February 29th, 2012 — 11:29am

We’d love to introduce you to the fantastic work of Swedish illustrator Karin Söderquist but chances are she’s already on your radar. One of Selfridges Bright Young Things for 2012, her work is currently on display as part of a collective design for one of the famous department store’s illustrious windows. Karin designed the laser cut walnut wood sausage dog (named Pablo) that you can see in the left hand corner. (A smaller version of Pablo is available for you to take home as your own from Selfridges – how sweet!).

You can also spot Karin herself as a life size cut out in another window:

Karin, who works part-time in our Notting Hill store, has created the whimsical illustration  that you see at the top of this post, especially for us. We love it and wish we could be wandering along in the magical woodland, collecting interesting things as Tilly is!

To see more of Karin’s work please visit her website and make sure to catch the Bright Young Things windows at Selfridges until 4th March (popping into our concession on the 3rd floor while you’re there!).

We’re excited to keep discovering Karin’s fanciful world!

kew gardens

February 27th, 2012 — 9:13am

Enticed by the first scent of Spring, a visit to Kew Gardens seemed just the thing this weekend. Along with the usual delights, we fell deep in love with their Tropical Extravaganza currently on display in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. Inspired by fire, air, water and air, the space has been transformed into a kind of paradise, with exotic plants springing up in beautiful floral displays everywhere you look. We couldn’t stop gazing at the little tropical village on water, and imagining a fairy-tale wedding under the orchid arches. Elsewhere, we were charmed by the Bonsai Tree House – such fuel for dreaming of miniature adventures!
